Two Taicang pupils from East China's Jiangsu province, brought home the gold medal for the primary school group at the 5th International Youth Robot Education Olympiad (IYRE) held at America's Stanford University from Dec 8 to 12.
2016 marks the fifth anniversary of the IYRE. The competition is divided into three groups based on the age of competitors. There are many competitions, including a robot bowling game, dancing game and garbage classification.

With their mentor Zhou Weidong, the two students from Taicang's Harbour City Primary School won their ticket to the Olympiad after coming first in the qualifying games back in China. They chose to compete in the trajectory tracking competition.
The different living environment and new competition venue posed a great challenge to the kids. They encouraged each other and calmed themselves down when faced with difficulties. They prudently chose the chips and engines to assembly their robot and scripted the programming. Their robot finished the route in only 13 seconds.
