Wuxi was successfully awarded as a "National Civilized City" at the National Construction of Spiritual Civilization Meeting held in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, on February 28, 2015.
It is the first time Wuxi has won the honor after 19 years of efforts in civilized city construction.
A total of 34 cities (districts) received the honor, including 22 prefecture-level cities.
Meanwhile, Wuxi was also awarded as an advanced city for its work in moral education for minors. What's more, Jiangyin and Yixing were nominated as a "National Civilized City".
Wang Quan, Wuxi mayor, received the medal in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, on February 28, 2015.
The national civilized city is a top honor that reflects the overall development level of a city. It is also the most valuable among all city honors.
