What comes to mind when you think about Australia? The Gold Coast, Sydney Opera House, or lovely koalas? Well this one is beyond your imagination. In Frankston, a coastal city 40 km south of Melbourne, Wuxi Walk is catching people’s attention.
Locals enjoy a good time walking, chatting, listening to the sea breeze and indulging in sea views on this waterfront boulevard.
So how did the "Wuxi Walk" come to be? Sources from Wuxi's foreign affairs office said that the two cities started friendship exchanges in 2009, and signed a sister city initiative in 2010. In 2013, Frankston's city council passed a bill to give it the name “Wuxi Walk”, as a way to strengthen friendship between both cities.
It also created some buzz online, as netizens were impressed by the blue sky, white clouds and enchanting natural views across the sea. Apart from setting up friendly ties with more cities, Wuxi is also learning from others and improving the environment.
