Wuxi mayor Wang Quan met with India consul-general in Shanghai Prakash Gupta on Feb 2 to talk about cooperation in economy, science and culture, according to the Wuxi government.
Wang Quan expressed his desire to work with India as it is an important country on the Silk Road Economic Belt and 21st Century Maritime Silk Road. Currently, India has invested 489 million yuan ($74.5 million) on 16 projects in Wuxi.
What's more, Indian multinational skills and talent development company, NIIT's China headquarters is based in Wuxi, greatly contributing to the area's software talent cultivation.
In turn, Wuxi has invested around $15 million on ten projects in India.
"I hope that Wuxi and India will expand cooperation in science, investment and education," said Wang.
Prakash Gupta said that he has witnessed Wuxi's amazing changes over the past ten years and invited more Wuxi companies to invest in India. The India consul-general in Shanghai will further promote bilateral exchanges and cooperation.
