Jiangnan University, the "Pearl of China's Light Industry Higher Education", functions directly under China's Ministry of Education. It is part of Project 211 that was launched in 1995 to raise the research standards of high-level universities and train professionals to implement strategies for China's socio-economic development.
Its roots stretch back to 1902 when its predecessor, San Jiang Normal School, began its first term. More than a hundred years of development and fifty years of independent education have brought Jiangnan University recognition from all levels of society for its scientific research, teaching quality and social service. It is a comprehensive university, highly respected at home and abroad.
The university campus, covering 208 hectares, is located by the picturesque Taihu Lake and Changguangxi Wetland Park in the south of Wuxi.
It was designed as an "eco-campus", landscaped with beautiful green areas, elegant gardens, unique bridges and tranquil streams.
Its digital energy management platform based on the Internet of Things and eight power reserve and management systems was established to provide the university with new ways to achieve fast, sustainable development.
