Singapore's largest private healthcare provider is to build what will become Wuxi's second international hospital after the Columbia Wuxi Hospital, according to Wuxi Daily.
A groundbreaking ceremony for the project, being carried out by Healthway Medical, was held in Wuxi High-Tech Industrial Development Zone, Jiangsu on April 20.
The Wuxi International Medical Center will be located at the intersection of Changjiang Road and Xinguang Road, and is being positioned as a tertiary-level general hospital, integrating medical treatment, prevention, recovery and health management.
The 1.5 billion yuan ($231.3 million) project will include 1,200 beds and is scheduled to come into service before 2019.
What’s more, the Singaporean healthcare supplier will establish Wuxi as its regional headquarters and expand investment opportunities, and purchase associated medical and pharmaceutical businesses.
It’s a crucial project as the Wuxi hospital will serve as an important platform for the company's development in China, said an executive from Healthway.
Healthway Medical provides healthcare services such as the management and operation of hospitals and investment in healthcare related assets, as well as the development of medical real estate and integrated mixed-use developments.
