The fourth International Food and Culture Expo was held at Jiangnan University on April 28, where more than 30 students from all over the world gathered to cook dishes and delicacies from their home countries.
An aromatic blend of exotic spices filled the air as students from nations such as Thailand, South Korea, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, put the food of their culture on display, tantalizing the taste buds of their lucky guests.
Four girls from Mongolia brought with them traditional snacks and grape tea."The food here today is what we eat during joyous occasions like the New Year Festival in our hometown,"said one of the girls.
In another booth, students from Antigua and Barbuda in the Caribbean wore colorful headdresses, attracting visitors to sample their local pastries and chili sauce.
"This chili sauce will let people get a taste of what food is like from our country,"a student from Antigua and Barbuda, who studies Chinese language and literature at Jiangnan University, said proudly.
The organizer, the School of International Education from Jiangnan University, also had their own booth at the event, where they mixed cocktails and baked cookies for visitors.
In addition to the delicious food on show, the foreign students also put on performances displaying their own national characteristics.
"Today, students from home and abroad enhanced mutual understanding through food and culture communication,"the organizer said.
