Wuxi has been listed among the first batch of smart logistic demonstration cities in China, and Sunan Express Industrial Park (SEIP) has made it onto the list of national demonstration bases of smart logistics distribution, according to the Ministry of Commerce on July 19.
Smart logistics distribution systems utilize information technology to a great degree, including Internet, cloud computing and big data, with functions of automated perception, comprehensive analysis and self-regulation. IT feeds through all aspects of logistics, from storage and delivery to distribution processing and information services.
SEIP has experienced rapid development since its establishment on Wuxi Airport Industry Park (A-Park) at Wuxi National Hi-tech District (WND) in December 2013.
SEIP was chosen as the first national demonstration zone of express industry cluster by the State Post Bureau in October 2015. Both domestic and overseas logistic giants have settled at the park, including S.F. Express, YTO Express, Deppon, Fedex and DHL, with more than 1,300 transport vehicles on truck and feeder lines, and over seven daily cargo flights.
With the aggregation of the express industry, the enterprises at SEIP are in the process of transforming from a traditional logistics pattern to a smart logistics system. In 2015, many distribution centers of express enterprises finished their upgrading and reformation of smart systems for real time monitoring and security assurance.
With a total investment of 350 million yuan ($52.8 million), the S.F. E-commerce Industrial Park, which started construction earlier this year, covering 9.2 hectares. It is expected to be the largest automated sorting logistics base in Wuxi, providing a full supply chain of services for e-commerce.
