Local company Shuangliang Group flew the flag for Wuxi at the Business 20, the prestigious global industrial and commercial meeting that advises the G20, in Hangzhou on Sept 3, Wuxi Daily reported.
Shuangliang Group Vice President Miao Zhiqiang played an active part in the summit, which was also attended by 150 of the world's 500 largest companies, taking part in seminars focusing on innovation and global economic growth, and global financial governance.
Miao told reporters he was delighted to be part of the summit. "It really feels good to be in Hangzhou and the B20 committee is very thoughtful. Each invited guest was given a chic umbrella and a square scarf produced in Hangzhou embodying the unique culture of the Yangtze River Delta," he said.
He added that he had been excited for days because being invited to the B20 is a great honor for his company. "I have learned a lot from the brilliant speeches of so many elite entrepreneurs." he said.
It is likely that the Wuxi company was invited to the B20 due to its success in expanding its overseas business, particularly in countries along the ancient Silk Road.
China's Belt and Road Initiative has played a major role in recent years in strengthening trade networks among the countries in the Silk Road Economic Belt connecting China, Central Asia and Europe, and Shuangliang Group has been closely involved in this push.
"Our products are sold in more than 50 countries and regions, and we have become the partner of more than 300 companies on the list of Global Top 500," Miao said.
The theme of the 2016 B20 Summit was building an innovative, energetic, connected and inclusive world economy. The meeting gave business leaders an important opportunity to discuss issues related to creativity and the future of the global economy.
At the conclusion of the summit, the B20 published the B20 2016 Policy Recommendations to the G20, and organized discussions attended by representatives from the international business community on priority issues in the world economy.
