As the seventh World Internet of Things Exposition (WIOT) will be held from Oct 30 to Nov 1 in Wuxi, the city has geared up for the event while looking forward to a promising future in the sector.
The Party secretary of Jiangsu province, Li Qiang, paid a visit to Wuxi on Oct 18 to investigate the city's Internet of Things industry, as well as to encourage greater advancement in the field.
At Wuxi's National IoT Exhibition Center, Li spoke highly of the city's solid foundation in the IoT industry, as it feeds directly into the region's industrial upgrade initiatives. In his visit to the Wuxi Sensing Network Industrialization Research Institute, Li urged the staff to broaden their scientific research platform and to foster more start-up firms driving forward the overall prosperity of the industry.
For Wuxi, added Li, it is a great chance to highlight the recent achievements of its National Sensor Network Innovative Demonstration Zone. He emphasized, the ultimate goal of the event is to take advantage of the integration of information, capital, technology and human resources in order to turn achievements in research into productive economic forces.
This year's WIOT to be held in Wuxi will be the largest scale national-level exposition of the Internet of Things sector, said Li Xiaomin, the city's Party secretary. He pledged, on Oct 18, to build the event into a world-class innovative exhibition and investment platform.
Since 2010, the WIOT has been annually held in the city of Wuxi. This year's event, themed "an era of innovation and the sharing global wisdom", will feature one main exhibition and eight summit forums. According to an earlier press conference, the exhibition is expected to attract 300 world-leading enterprises, universities and associations.
