The seventh World Internet of Things Exposition (WIOT) got underway in Wuxi on Oct 30 and will run till Nov 1.
Let's take a quick look at the four main activities taking place at the expo:
Activity 1: The National College Competition of Internet of Things finals
A total of 120 teams from 70 universities selected from a total of 1,511 entries are taking part in the National College Competition of Internet of Things finals in Wuxi New District (WND).
The finals are being adjudicated by a panel composed of prestigious scholars specializing in the IoT industry from home and abroad.
Professionals from world-renowned companies including Amazon AWS, Baidu and Microsoft are also on hand at the finals to advise the contestants on how their inventions could be applied from a business perspective.
Activity 2: International Summit Forum of Sensor Technology and Industry Development
This summit forum focuses on one of the cornerstones of the IoT industry—sensors. Experts from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Tsinghua University, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Nanyang Technological University and many other famous universities and research institutions will discuss the development of the global sensors industry and the latest cutting-edge research in the field.
The forum will also feature reports on recent innovations in Wuxi's sensors industry, including local firm ZTE's new smart roadside parking IoT platform, and several new MEMS products developed by MEMSIC.
Activity 3: International IoT Financial Summit Forum
The forum features a combination of keynote speeches, dialogues and press conferences exploring how the financial and IoT industries can better communicate and cooperate.
Discussions will focus particularly on hot topics such as how IoT can be used to upgrade the financial industry and to lower the risks of Internet finance.
In addition, a launch ceremony for the IoT financial alliance and fund shall be held on the sidelines of the forum.
Activity 4: Hongshan IoT Town Planning release conference
Hongshan town, located in WND, is scheduled to become the first IoT town in China and plans for its construction are to be unveiled during the expo.
