Both funding and supportive policies from the country and the province served carry forward the upgrading of film industry in Wuxi, said by Wang Quan, vice mayor of the city. He introduced that Wuxi has long been a front runner of the Chinese film industry, taking advantage of its landscape and well-preserved ancient architecture. The CCTV Wuxi Movie/TV Base settled in Wuxi in 1987 and was the first large-scale base for shooting movies and TV programs in China.

Co-hosted by the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television, the Jiangsu Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television and the people's government of Wuxi, the summit aimed to strength ties between the film industry and commercial organizations in the city of Wuxi.
Located in the Binhu district, Wuxi Studios was built in 2014. In 2015, the film industry park reached an output of 2.3 billion yuan ($333 million), and is making efforts to establish a high-end, professional and international film production base. This year, total revenues of the park hit 2.4 billion yuan during the period of Jan to Sept.
