Three miles away from downtown Wuxi, several varieties of plum blossoms have begun to bloom in the Plum Garden Hengshan Scenic Area, attracting throngs of visitors to take pictures.
Built in 1912 by rich Chinese industrialists, Rong Zongjing and Rong Desheng, the garden has long been known as one of the best places to admire plum blossoms south of the Yangtze River.
In 1955, the once private garden was donated to the government. It opens to visitors from 6 am to 6 pm from Jan 1 to May 20 at a ticket price of 35 yuan ($5).
