The Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development recently released a list of towns that enjoy a nationwide reputation both in terms of natural scenery and livable environment. Yangshan Town, found on the outskirts of the city of Wuxi, was one of 95 other sites that made it onto the list.
The name Yangshan is often synonymous with its well-known product; the honey peach. The peach has a history of nearly 70 years and, as an indigenous Wuxi product, is renowned for its beautiful shape, softness, and intense flavor. The peach is often praised for its high nutritional value.

Yangshan has reaped the financial benefits of cultivating the prized peach but the locals certainly don't take Mother Nature for granted and there are several community initiatives striving to protect and give back to the environment.
Last year, Yangshan cut its energy consumptions per GDP by 4 percent. Additionally, the area has established a company that produces cleaning equipment, it has abandoned two polluting industrial kilns, and replanted more than 80,000 square meters of forest. It is also in the process of building two ecological villages.

According to the local government, the town is successfully integrating its ecological resources, agriculture services, guesthouse industry, and hot spring tourism to form an attractive town that constantly promotes the well-being of its residents.
