An eco-tourism promotion event organized by Taihua, a picturesque mountain town in Yixing, Jiangsu province was held in the neighboring Minhang district, Shanghai on March 23 in a bid to attract more investment and tourists from the country's most prosperous metropolis.
More than 100 distinguished guests from the Shanghai government and concerned industries including agriculture, finance, investment and tourism took part in the event, during which four cooperation projects were signed and eight agreements as to terms involving more than one billion yuan ($145 million) were preliminarily settled.
According to one cooperation agreement signed between the Taihua town government and the Biological Industrial Park of Fudan University, the park will transfer its industries to Taihua which will help to fuel the town's economic development.
The Ruoer General Aviation Development Group forged ties with the Taihua town government on promoting a helicopter sightseeing project. A tourist destination combining natural harmony and ecological culture will be created by the two sides to further improve regional tourism.
Jiang Feng, major of Taihua, said that the town enjoys a favorable geographical position to develop its eco-tourism as is it located at the intersection of major cities and the tourism destinations of Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui provinces. Its two-hour economic circle covers 16 large and medium-sized cities including Shanghai, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Suzhou and Wuxi.
Endowed with a fantastic natural environment with unique mountains, lakes, springs, forests and wetlands, the town has placed the highest priority on ecological conservation, which sets a solid foundation for its development of cultural and ecological tourism.
