The launch ceremony for the documentary Huishan Ancient Town, Thousand-year-old Ancestral Temples was held at Huishan ancient town, one of Wuxi's top spots of interest, on Oct 26.
The documentary was backed by the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of the People's Republic of China, the National Radio and Television Administration, and the National Cultural Heritage Administration.
The shooting was organized by CCTV (China Central Television) and is a part of full length documentary named Remembering the Nostalgia, which is focused on showcasing the beauty of China's traditional villages and cultural relics.
Characterized by a long history and rich culture, Huishan ancient town harbors diverse cultures, forming a kaleidoscope of Jiangnan culture.
The documentary aims to show the story of Huishan ancient town through its ancient buildings, local customs and famous historical figures, as well as showcase the uniqueness of Wuxi culture and the daily life its residents.
Huishan ancient town is home to ancient streets, houses, scenery, and antiques which have been handed down from generation to generation. The architecture of Huishan ancient town is engraved with traces of history and tradition which evoke nostalgia in the locals.
More importantly, Huishan ancient town boasts a variety of ancestral temples which serve to educate people to be upright, honest, industrious and loyal to their motherland. The temples are not only aesthetic, but academically significant, in that they provide a platform for locals to probe their cultural origins and roots.
