Wuxi Xinwu People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries was founded on Dec 21 with the goal of setting a non-governmental platform to promote exchange and cooperation with foreign countries.
Xinwu, a district in the southeastern part of Wuxi, is popular for foreign investment and has attracted approximately $60 billion. It is home to more than 1,600 foreign-invested projects and 380 national high-tech enterprises. Fifty-three multinational corporations among the Global Fortune 500 has invested in 110 projects in the district. Xinwu also boasts large scales of micro-electronics, new energy, internet of things, and biotechnology industries, which all rank top in the country.

The association is designed to expand non-governmental communication channels with foreign countries, such as building brand activities, and promote cooperation with economic organizations, trade groups and non-governmental institutions. It would also solidify foundation for export-oriented economy and help Chinese enterprises expand overseas businesses, as well as provide services for overseas enterprises and outstanding talents.
Based on World Internet of Things Expo and cultural festivals, the association was expected to promote Xinwu district's cooperation with the world in terms of technology, culture and academics, recommending its profound culture, long history and high innovation and entrepreneurship capabilities to the world and attracting more foreign friends for collaboration.
