Wuxi released implementation opinions to promote the development of manufacturing industrial clusters, according to news from the Wuxi Information and Economization Committee on Dec 23.
The document stipulates that the prime operating revenue of the city's 16 major manufacturing industrial clusters should reach 1.5 trillion yuan ($217.88 billion) by 2020 and 12 industrial clusters with a scale of more than 100 billion yuan will be formed.
This is the first time Wuxi has made a plan of that kind. The goal is to set up an industrial ecosystem and promote Wuxi's position on the international manufacturing industrial chain.
The 16 major industrial clusters of advanced manufacturing were the internet of things, integrated circuits, high-end textile and clothing, high-end equipment, high-end software, energy conservation and environmental protection, special steel, high polymer materials, new electronic materials, electronic components, new energy, automobiles and components, cloud computing and big data, aircraft engines and gas turbines, biological medicine and medical equipment, and advanced ship and ocean engineering equipment.
Based on a six-month investigation, the list of major industrial clusters was made in line with the guidance given by the provincial government and the industrial characteristics of Wuxi city. Four industrial clusters with enormous potential, of 5G, artificial intelligence, graphene and additive manufacturing, were listed as alternative choices.
Zhou Wendong, director of the Wuxi Information and Economization Committee, noted that the city has a promising development trend for industrial clusters which lays a solid foundation for the development of advanced manufacturing industries. The city has 11 industries with a scale of more than 50 billion yuan; four of them are above 100 billion yuan.
