The Working Committee for the Communist Party of China (CPC) Wuxi Municipal Economic Development Zone and the Management Committee for Wuxi Municipal Economic Development Zone were launched on Jan 4.
The Wuxi Municipal Economic Development Zone was also given the title of "Jiangsu Provincial Big Data Industrial Park" by the Jiangsu Provincial Industry and Information Technology Department.
Li Xiaomin, Party secretary of Wuxi, said "it's a new start" for the Wuxi Municipal Economic Development Zone.
"The government has focused on the construction of Wuxi Municipal Economic Development Zone, aiming to build another core for Wuxi together with the old town. It is supposed to be a strategic fulcrum for the city to expand urban space, optimize layout, shape characteristics and improve energy levels."

A total of 12 projects were signed at the opening ceremony following the construction of Wuxi Fuhua High-tech Institute and Xuelang Cloud Industrial Internet Platform.
Wuxi Ocean Data Application Research Center will try to solve common technical problems faced during the development of the big data industry based on the resources provided by the Institute of Computing technology at the Chinese Academy of Science.
Four new centers were launched in Wuxi's Xuelang town, promoting the integration of internet of things and manufacturing and tapping into the synergies of the country's wealthy Yangtze River Delta Region.
