Southeast University and the Wuxi Municipal People's Government signed to develop a new campus and build international education institutes on Jan 9, marking the 30th anniversary of the Wuxi branch of Southeast University.
Covering an area of 500 mu (33 hectares), the new campus will be built in the Taihu International Science and Technology Park, Wuxi National Hi-tech district, and will accommodate about five new institutes.
The Wuxi branch of Southeast University will also cooperate with foreign universities ranking among the top 100 worldwide to build international education institutes. A total of 5,000 students are expected to be studying in the new campus before 2025.

During the signing ceremony, the School of Micro-electronics of Southeast University was opened with the initiating document witnessed by Li Xiaomin, Party secretary of Wuxi.
"Wuxi is a national center for micro-electronics, as well as one of China's seven industrial centers for integrated circuit design. The integrated circuit industry, one of the most defining and competitive industries in Wuxi, is currently thriving. The establishment of the School of Micro-electronics at Southeast University is beneficial to both sides," said Li.
A newly-added undergraduate course on the internet of things will admit students in June, 2019.
