The opening ceremony of the "Learning from Lei Feng" voluntary month was held in Chong'an Temple, Wuxi city on March 5, saluting China's moral model, Lei Feng.
Every March 5, locals across Wuxi observe a day commemorating Lei Feng, a soldier renowned in China for his generosity and altruistic deeds.

Wuxi city has taken March as the voluntary month for 17 years. A group of 200 volunteers gather to provide some 50 free activities during March, including medical consultations, legal aid, haircuts, and other events for the elderly, which spurred all kinds of voluntary activities throughout the city.
This March a total of 11 volunteer teams were set up at the opening ceremony to provide assistance to poor families, clean bus platforms, and give free medical examinations for the elderly.
