Wuxi Municipal People's Government hosted a national flag-raising ceremony in celebration of the 70th anniversary of Wuxi's liberation on April 24.
Delegations from the government and national army, as well as notable figures and veteran soldiers arrived for the ceremony.
Held at 8 o'clock, all those present stood solemnly when the national anthem was played, gazing as the national flag slowly rose.
After the ceremony, a group of young pioneers sung the song My Motherland and Me, one of the most patriotic songs in China. The lyrics of the song are believed to be inspired by the beautiful landscapes of the region.
This year marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. Wuxi will continue to pursue the building of a moderately prosperous society in an environment of regional peace and security.
