Belo-horizonte, Brazil and Jiangyin signed to become sister cities on November 22, 1996.

Belo-horizonte (Beautiful Horizon), the 4th largest city in Brazil, has a population of 2,100,000 and an area of 334 square kilometers. As the capital of the state of Minas Gerais, Belo-horizonte is the political, economic and cultural center there and is well developed in metallurgy, jewel processing, auto manufacturing, spinning and food industries. Located in the southwest of Espinhaco Mountains (east of Brazilian Highlands), Belo Horizonte is connected with Rio de Janeiro 471 kilometers away in the south and St. Paul 586 kilometers away in the southwest by highways and railways.
