The Wuxi government released 18 measures to promote high-quality development of the cultural industry, according to a news conference on July 25.
A three-year initiative was released as well, saying the city will make efforts to build over 1,000 cultural enterprises above designated size and two cultural industry clusters whose revenue will exceed 10 billion yuan ($1.45 billion) by 2021. The cultural industry is expected to account for over 5.5 percent of the city’s total GDP in three years.
The 18 new measures will be applied to guide, support and promote local cultural enterprises and parks to transform, upgrade and develop, especially in the film and television production industry.
A series of rewards will encourage development. For example, a company which is selected as one of the Top 30 National Cultural Enterprises for the first time will be awarded 10 million yuan. Each newly introduced project with a total investment of 500 million yuan (included) to 100 million yuan will win a grant of 8 million yuan. An award of 2 million yuan will be given to subsidize film and television works whose technical production costs exceed 20 million yuan.
As the only cultural export base in East China's Jiangsu province, Wuxi will continue to support key industries and promote the environment for cultural development.
