Twelve coaches with New Year’s decorations attracted attention at a coach station in Zhangjiagang of Jiangsu province on the morning of January 24, 2014.
The buses are provided free of charge by the city’s civilization office, radio station and Yonggang Group for more than 500 migrant workers from northern areas of the province or Anhui province.
Volunteers stood by to help passengers from the station to the coaches.
“Are you a passenger of the free coaches? Let me help you with your luggage, and this way, please,” said one volunteer.
“Please show your tickets and ID cards, I’ll arrange seats for you,” said another volunteer.
Liang Zhengao, a migrant worker from Xuzhou of Jiangsu province, is glad to get a free ticket on the coach. He said it was difficult to get tickets before Spring Festival, and the event helped him get home in less time and with less money.
By 8:20am, all the passengers had boarded.
It is the second year of the event. Last year, more than 200 people benefited from the free buses. This year, more destinations are covered, and each coach has a volunteer.
