Rain and snow hit many areas in China at the end of the Spring Festival holiday. Many highways to Zhangjiagang in Jiangsu province have been affected, forcing passengers to delay or change their travel plans.
The passenger return peak for Spring Festival will be delayed to February 9, according to predictions from a coach station in the city.
Zhou Jianfeng, vice-director of the station, said some people have returned to Zhangjiagang for work, but the number is small.
“Most highways in Shandong, Hebei, Anhui and areas in northern Jiangsu province are closed due to snow, so the travel peak will hit on February 9. We have stopped coaches to these areas. Student travel peak will be on February 15-16 and 23-24.”
