Fields in Zhangjiagang become green food bases

More than 167 square kilometers of rice and wheat fields in Zhangjiagang of Jiangsu province have been approved as national green food raw material standardization production bases, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and the Green Food Development Center.
The city has put significant effort into improving the eco-environment and producing green food. It has invested 105 million yuan ($17.32 million) since 2011 in field standardization, pesticide distribution centralization, grain production mechanization, professional pest control and green grain planting techniques.
The green food base is expected to improve the agricultural standardization level, change the agricultural mode of production, develop modern agriculture and set up local green brands.
