Yonglian Water Park, the first of its kind in Zhangjiagang, opened to the public on July 1, after more than eight months of construction. Despite the rainy weather, the park brought out many locals.
The park, covering an area of 42,000 square meters, features various aquatic amusement facilities, such as swimming pools, wave pools, lazy rivers and kids pools.
The most notable is the wave pool, the largest one in Suzhou, Wuxi and Changzhou. The pool can produce man-made waves as high as 3 meters, allowing visitors to experience a tsunami.
With all the water entertainment facilities, safety is an issue that Yonglian Water Park takes seriously.
"We have 120 staffers, including 25 lifeguards, in charge of different areas of the park." said Jiang Wei, the park manager.
The park will be open from July 1 to Sept 10, with a maximum daily capacity of 12,000 people.
