A 10-kilometer mini marathon was held on July 27 in Liangfeng Ecological Park in Zhangjiagang, with about 300 netizens taking part to promote a low-carbon and green lifestyle.

The mini marathon represents the beginning of the 2014 Zhangjiagang Internet Culture Festival, which is themed "Work Together to Build a Green Internet and Enjoy a Happy Life."

The event will run through December and consists of various activities, focusing on four themes: promotion, display, contest and public welfare. The event will include the promotion of a new media platform, an activity about Zhangjiagang in the eyes of foreign friends, a netizen fitness competition, an online calligraphy contest and public service activities.

The netizen fitness competition, sponsored by zjgonline.com.cn, a local news portal in Zhangjiagang, is an important part of the Internet culture festival. It aims to combine fitness and cyber culture to promote a healthy lifestyle and positive cyber culture. The competition includes four parts – mini marathon, squash teaching, badminton contest and sports items for entertainment. People who participate in the activities will be able to get cash awards.
