Zhangjiagang's high-tech enterprises make strides

High-tech enterprises in Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu province, have witnessed dramatic development this year, with 99 newly-recognized high-tech enterprises.
High-tech enterprises play a key role in setting benchmarks for the science and high-tech industry and driving the city's technological innovation. Since 2008, the number of Zhangjiagang's high-tech enterprises has increased from 31 to 300, providing strong momentum for the city's development.
In 2013, the city conducted a survey on 268 high-tech enterprises. According to statistics, those enterprises reached a total sales revenue of 65.9 billion yuan ($10.75 billion), a year-on-year increase of 10 percent. They paid a value-added tax and business income tax topping 1.59 billion yuan and 623 million yuan, a growth of 30.3 percent and 11.7 percent, respectively.
