The Yangtze River Culture Promotion Society was set up in Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu province, on Oct 31, the first of its kind that promotes Yangtze River culture.

Operated by the Ministry of Civil Affairs, the society is a national organization focusing on culture research, trainings and communication activities to popularize Yangtze River culture and boost resource sharing among Yangtze River areas.

It is the 11th year that Zhangjiagang has held the Yangtze River Culture and Art Festival. The society's launch will be a new highlight for this year's festival and serve as a new drive for the development of Yangtze River culture.
