Zhangjiagang hosted a launch ceremony at the city's culture center to announce the release of a commemorative stamp collection marking the country's 11th Cultural Heritage Day on June 11.
The stamp collection, released by China Post, contains two stamps in one set, respectively highlighting intangible and tangible cultural heritage. Using line sketches, the stamp depicts some of China's World Heritage listed cultural relics.
At the ceremony the government announced the implementation of a series of special events to protect the city's cultural heritage.
Cultural Heritage Day was first celebrated in 2006 and is designed to promote greater awareness of the need for cultural heritage protection and conservation. This year's theme centered on integrating cultural heritage with modern life.
