The peony, a flower considered by Chinese people to have "ethereal color and celestial fragrance", is flourishing in the eastern city of Zhangjiagang in Jiangsu province.
Residents of the port city are flocking to several local ideal locations to admire the "queen of flowers", considered a symbol of prosperity, happiness and good luck in Chinese culture.
Jiyang Lake Ecological Park
The peony garden, located in the south of the ecological park, is part of the picturesque landscape of Jiyang Lake.
Covering an area of more than 4,000 square meters, the garden is home to some 40,000 peony plants, including several precious species such as "double red with velvet ruby luster".
The flowers vary greatly in color, ranging from red, pink and white to purple, green and black.
