A series of voluntary activities got underway on the sidelines, with residents being invited to sign on a green travel-themed streamer and were handed city bus maps and auto service brochures.
They also spoke highly of a convenient app, which enabled them to gain real-time bus information by just getting online and searching the bus line numbers.
The city of Zhangjiagang always puts an emphasis on green travel, especially in the public transportation sector. Among the city's 710 buses, 372 of them are new energy vehicles, including 42 electric-motivated ones, 220 gas-electric vehicles, and 110 liquefied natural gas-driven buses. A new group of 100 buses, including 30 new energy vehicles, will be put into use in 2017. Buses using clean and new energy will hopefully account for 55 percent of the fleet in 2020, say officials.
