Zhangjiagang, a county-level city in eastern Jiangsu province, released its first 5G smart phone made by Chinese technology and smartphone giant Huawei on Aug 16.
The Huawei Mate 20X is available for 5G technology and supports an 8GB+256GB memory combination. Its current starting price on the official website is 6,199 yuan ($898.4).
Experts say 5G technology will play a more important role in intelligent driving, industry control, city construction and home improvements. The 5G networks feature ultrahigh transmission rates, enhanced capacity and reduced latency compared with 4G.
Accordingly, by the end of August, the China Mobile Group is expected to build a slew of 5G base stations across the city covering local government, colleges and Yonglian Group areas. China Mobile has said it will make every effort to accomplish basic coverage of 5G signals by 2020.
