The 2019 Zhangjiagang Biennale of Contemporary Ink Art opened at the Zhangjiagang Art Gallery on Oct 27 and will run until Dec 15, according to organizers.
More than 50 works by 14 renowned artists from China, the United States, Italy, Japan, and South Korea are on display. The exhibits include ink paintings, comprehensive materials, devices, images, and multimedia works.
"We intend to build an international platform for contemporary ink art and make steps toward progress," said Zhu Qi, curator of the exhibition.
A forum on ink art was also held on the opening day of the exhibition, with six critics and 11 artists discussing the connection between contemporary ink art, calligraphy, and modernism.
