Zhangjiagang reported stable growth in car imports from January to November 2019 despite a weak global market.

A total of 5,944 cars worth $210 million were imported through Zhangjiagang Port over the first 11 months of the year. The growth rates were 11.8 percent and 10.5 percent year on year, respectively.

Officials from local customs attributed the growth partly to the city’s efforts to streamline declaration procedures and improve services.

The city has encouraged online declarations and implemented a highly efficient inspection system, helping companies cut costs by 6 million yuan ($860,400) annually.
