Construction on the Shuangshan Island Aviation Flight Camp began on Dec 30, 2019 in Zhangjiagang, East China's Jiangsu province.
The camp covers an area of about 26 hectares and will receive 100 million yuan ($14.34 million) in investment.
It aims to become one of the Yangtze River Delta region’s most comprehensive flight camps, combining training, sports, exhibitions, and tourism.
The camp will house a number of flying clubs, four-season gardens, cottage hotels, and exhibition areas. It will also provide training courses on fixed-wing aircraft and host aviation exhibitions and competitions.
The first section of the runway is expected to be completed in May this year, and the camp will open in July.
In the future, the camp plans to launch short-haul flights to nearby tourist attractions in Anji, Maoshan, Qiandao Lake, Jianhu Lake, and Hengdian.
