Xue Ao, a 34-year-old veteran in Zhangjiagang, East China's Jiangsu province, is currently busy doing voluntary work at the Tianmen Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Tianmen city, Central China's Hubei province.
Xue has been running a medical equipment business in Hubei since 2015. He went back home to Zhangjiagang before the Spring Festival and closely followed the epidemic situation in Hubei.
He was so concerned about the situation that he decided to go to Tianmen city on the seventh day of the Chinese Lunar New Year.
He has been living in a hotel designated for medical workers and has been responsible for transporting medical supplies, such as masks, disinfectant, protective glasses and respirators.
"I wait at the hospital every day and set off on my electric bicycle when I receive a phone call from the hospital," Xue said. "Then I pick up the supplies from designated spots, bring them back to the hospital and distribute them to the departments."
Although meals are available at the hospital, Xue seldom has time to eat. Sometimes, he even has to pick up supplies from Wuhan, the epicenter of COVID-19.
"The work is hard, but I'm not alone," he said, swearing that he won't leave until the battle is won.
