Construction on Zhangjiagang-Rugao bridge to start next year

Construction on a new bridge connecting Zhangjiagang, Suzhou and Rugao, Nantong is expected to start in December 2021, according to the project’s environmental impact assessment released on April 23.
The bridge will consist of two sections, one crossing the main part of the Yangtze River with a span of 2,300 meters, and the other crossing a branch of the river with a span of 1,208 m.
It will feature an eight-lane expressway supporting speeds of up to 100 kilometer per hour.
The bridge will take five years to build and cost a total of 25.45 billion yuan ($3.6 billion).
