The Sanbai (Three Hundred) Mountain national scenic spot is located in the southeast of Anyuan county, Jiangxi province. Covering an area of 138 square kilometers, Sanbai Mountain is listed as a National Park. It is famous for the volcanic landform, flying waterfalls and deep pools, well-preserved forests with jungles, ancient trees, rare birds and beasts. The ecosystem is so well-preserved that the forest coverage rate is 98 percent. Sanbai Mountain is the origin of Dongjiang River, which supplies drinking water to Hong Kong residents.

Sanbai Mountain lies near the eruption vent of ancient volcanoes, and lakes caused by ancient volcano eruptions are well-preserved. Such lakes have great scientific research and sightseeing value. There are groups of waterfalls in Sanbai Mountain, the number of which is up to 100. Fu'aotang Waterfall is the most well-known among them, which has a vertical drop of more than 150 meters. Fu'aotang Waterfall is named the first waterfall of Dongjiang River. Wangtian Waterfall and Zhiyin Hot Spring are also very famous.
The typical cultural landscape in Sanbai Mountain is Hakka round houses, which are residential buildings for Hakka people and are symbolic of the Hakka culture. In the Sanbai Mountain scenic spot, about 100 Hakka round houses are well-preserved, such as Dongshen Hakka Round House and XinFeng Hakka Round House.

Sanbai Mountain was developed into a tourism destination in the mid-1980s. In 1985, the Anyuan county government listed the mountain as a nature reserve under county-level protection. In May 1993, the Ministry of Forestry approved Sanbai Mountain as a state-level forest park. In July 1995, Jiangxi provincial people’s government set the mountain as a provincial level key scenic spot. In May 2002, the State Council authorized it as one of the fourth set of state level key scenic spots.
