In Jinggangshan area, rainfall is plentiful, trees are luscious and the natural conditions are suitable for the growth of Lentinus edodes (mushroom). All villages and towns in the city plant Lentinus edodes. The Lentinus edodes in Huang’ao, Changping, Maoping, Bailu and Dongshang are the best. The annual output exceeds 5,000 kg. It has become a bestseller tourist and export product in Jinggangshan.

In terms of quality, the Lentinus edodes in Jinggangshan are classified as either flower, thick or thin mushrooms. Each type is further classified as either large, medium or small mushroom. Medium flower mushrooms are the best. It is hemispheric-shaped, thick and fragrant; the edge is curled up inwards with patterns on its umbrella plane.

Many famous dishes use it as an ingredient to enhance flavor. It is tender, crispy and refreshing and loved by everybody.

In addition, Lentinus edodes also have medicinal value. It contains rich vitamins, minerals and vegetable proteins, helps bone development of children and prevents chondropathy. It also promotes blood circulation, reduces cholesterol and has certain curative effect on heart disease, hypertension and diabetes.
