Jinggang Mountain to hold International Azalea Festival in April

The Jinggang Mountain international azalea festival will start on April 15 and last until June 2012, according to the news conference of "The Third Jinggang Mountain International Azalea Festival" on March 22.
Themed "Red azalea on Jinggang mountain and happy tourists in China", the festival features various activities. These include an opening ceremony of the azalea festival, an exhibition of flower and azalea potted landscapes, a ribbon cutting ceremony and the foundation of the Jinggangshan national azalea expo. An exhibit of local products, the 85th anniversary of the establishment of the Jinggangshan revolutionary base, a calligraphy work exhibition and a photo exhibition of azalea growing on Jinggang mountain will also be on display.
Long Bozhou, mayor of Jinggangshan city and director of Jinggangshan administration, said Jinggang mountain will be an ocean of flowers during the festival and will attract tourists to experience the local culture and green ecology.
Starting in 2010, the Jinggangshan Mountain International Azalea Festival has been held twice and achieved positive tourism benefits. The festival helps raise the city's image and creates new resources after paying attention to tourist trade, cultural exchanges and tourist brands.
In 2011, as many as 6.71 million tourists came to visit Jinggang Mountain and tourism income reached 4.94 billion yuan, an increase of 47.94 percent and 48.52 percent respectively. The total revenue of entrance tickets also exceeded 200 million yuan.
