A botanical garden is expected to be built by the end of this year in Nanchang, Jiangxi province, according to the Nanchang Bureau of Landscape and Forestry on July 6. The park green area per capita in Nanchang will increase to 10.5 square meters from the current 9.4 sq m once the garden is complete.
The building of the new botanical garden will integrate and offer plant collection, species introduction and acclimation, plant protection and development, germplasm resources protection and utilization, popularization of science as well as leisure for vacations. The building of the botanical garden, therefore, will be one of the key tasks for this year’s urban landscape and forestry construction.
The planned Nanchang botanical garden will be located in the Meiling Ziyang Palace scenic spot with an area of 333 hectares. The project is expected to begin in Dec 2012 and complete construction in 2015.
