Logo, mascot of CNEA expo makes debut
2013-07-10
The logo and mascot of the China-Northeast Asia Expo recently made their debut at a news conference in Changchun, capital of Jilin province.
The China Jilin-Northeast Asia Investment and Trade Expo (renamed the China-Northeast Asia Expo, or CNEA, this year), and its executive committee collected designs of logos and mascots from the public to promote the expo.
The logo features a circle as the main body and blue as the main color. It has a basic map of the six countries of Northeast Asia. "CNEA" at the top and "Expo" as the centerpiece are respectively included in the logo.
The mascot "Jilin deer Youyou" takes the sika deer, a typical animal with Northeast Asian characteristics, as the character prototype. In traditional Chinese culture, the deer symbolizes good luck and friendliness.
Taking the anthropomorphic sika deer as the mascot of the CNEA reflects the purpose of "peace, harmony and cooperation" and represents the vitality and prosperity of Northeast Asian development, according to Cong Hongxia, secretary-general of the CNEA’s secretariat and deputy secretary general of the Jilin provincial government.
The CNEA is a national-level international expo approved by the State Council and sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce, the National Development and Reform Commission, and the Jilin provincial government.
It is organized by a group of state ministries, two other provinces (Heilongjiang and Liaoning) and one region (Inner Mongolia) in Northeast China. It has been successfully held in the past eight years since it was founded in 2005. The ninth expo will be held in Changchun city from September 6 to 11 this year.
