Buddhist temple to be rebuilt

Changbai Mountain in Jilin province will rebuild its Guanyin Temple in cooperation with the Shaolin Temple on Mount Songshan in Henan province, Xinhua News Agency reported on Friday.
Changbai Mountain has a time-honored history as a sacred Buddhist place and has been regarded as the home of "White-Robed Guanyin". The temple is named for a Buddhist diety.
The managing authorities of Changbai Mountain said they plan to engage Shi Yongxin, the abbot of the Shaolin Temple, as the abbot of the Changbai temple.
Changbai Mountain is a prominent tourist resort in China, known for its sacred and mystical natural scenery. The Changbai Mountain Nature Reserve is a protected area.
