2014-09-15
When the Hurun Research Institute published its World's Best Ecotourism Destination 2014, at the Changbai Mountains International Ecological Forum at the Changbai scenic spot in Jilin province, on Sept 10, the Changbai Mountains were on the list.
Other ecotourism destinations for the Jan - Dec period this year are the South Pole, Tengchong, Yunnan province, Bavaria, Germany, the Iguazu Falls, Brazil, Australia's Great Barrier Reef, the US's Yellowstone Park, the Amazon Rainforest, Norway’s Lysefjord, Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula, Costa Rica, and Palau.
September is the most colorful time of the year for the Changbai Mountains, which are said to have four seasons on one mountain and different weather a short distance away. The colorful leaves and gentle breeze help to provide unique natural conditions and tourist appeal.
Hurun studied the condition of local animals, species diversity, the ecosystem, climate, environment, air quality, and special resources to pick the best ecotourism destinations each month from tourist resorts, while keeping in mind sustainable development, ecological and environmental protection, and harmony between humans and the nature, in reaching its conclusion.
