Residents in Changchun, capital city of Northeast China’s Jilin province, took part in a celebration on the Double Ninth Festival, or Chongyang Festival, where filial piety and respect for the elderly are recognized. This year it fell on October 2.
The celebration included a recitation of classic literary works on filial piety and a sacrificial ceremony for the ancient Chinese philosopher Confucius, who was considered to be one of the most influential promoters for such a traditional Chinese virtue in China.
