The city of Hun Chun, Jilin province has become one of 58 new designated sites for improving the quarantine process on imported food and to increase food security through better inspections.
Although Hun Chun is a small city, it was chosen as one of the new posts because of its location in northeastern China, where it shares a border with North Korea and Russia, and is close to Japan and South Korea, popular sources of Chinese food imports.
These new site designations are the responsibility of China’s General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, which is working to improve the quality of China’s imported food.
