Jilin governor meets with German business rep

Jiang Chaoliang, the governor of Jilin province, met with a delegation led by Hou Yuzhe, the CEO of BASF Greater China, Germany’s massive chemical company, on Nov 3, in the city of Changchun, to discuss the company’s research on biodegradable materials and its production in Jilin.
The governor gave a description of Jilin’s economic situation and plan to the visitors, with the emphasis on his plans for revitalizing the province’s heavy industry, and noting that, Jilin has a solid foundation in the chemical business and an abundance of land and invited the German company to increase cooperation with Jilin in biodegradable materials, manufacturing and environmental protection.
Hou responded by expressing an interest in investing biodegradable materials research and production, in Jilin, and said he is looking for business partners. BASF Greater China is one of the biggest foreign investors in China’s chemical business and has an office in Changchun.
